Challenge
Thai government services encounter foreign visitors who speak various languages on a daily basis, but the staff cannot understand or effectively assist them due to language barriers. This inability hinders the staff from performing their duties effectively. The use of cloud-based solutions is not an option due to strict data protection regulations.
Solution
On-Premise Speech-to-Text Machine Translation Software
Lingvanex’s on-premise software, equipped with speech-to-text conversion and no need for Internet access, was implemented to overcome the miscommunication problem.
The system was connected to a terminal placed next to the civil servant. When a visitor approaches the terminal, they select their language and speak. The speech is then transcribed and translated on the employee’s screen.
The employee responds, and the visitor receives the answer in their own language. All transcription and translation processes occur locally on the Thai government’s servers, ensuring that customer data remains fully protected.
Results
Integrating the Lingvanex solution has significantly improved the quality of service for foreign visitors, positively impacting the country’s image and enhancing its ability to attract new business and tourism while maintaining data security.
