Vivaldi Browser: 2M Users Access Secure Translations
Challenge
Vivaldi Browser is a cross-platform freeware developed by Vivaldi Technologies, founded by Tatsuki Tomita and Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner (co-founder and former CEO of Opera Software).
Vivaldi's goal is to provide users with a secure, user-friendly translation environment that avoids surveillance by other extensions. Unlike Google Translate, Microsoft, or Yandex, Vivaldi neither tracks nor collects users' data, ensuring complete privacy.
With the growing demand for tools that protect personal data, Vivaldi identified the need for a trusted partner to provide a secure translation service.
Solution
Product: On-Premise Machine Translation Software
Vivaldi and Lingvanex collaborated to expand Vivaldi’s translation capabilities, aiming to broaden the browser's audience and improve information access.
Lingvanex's on-premise translation software was deployed in Vivaldi's data center in Iceland. When a user visits a web page, the text is securely extracted, translated by Lingvanex’s software, and replaced in the user’s selected language — all within Vivaldi’s secure environment.
Results
With Lingvanex, Vivaldi Browser eliminates language barriers while ensuring complete data privacy. Users can enjoy translated content without exposing their information to third-party services. This built-in translation feature allows millions of users globally to access web pages in more than 100 languages.
Lingvanex’s on-premise MT software can translate unlimited web pages daily for a fixed price, offering savings of up to 30 times compared to cloud services that charge based on usage.
