ठगी (en. Swindle)

While some network marketing opportunities are scams out to swindle your money, the good news is there are far more opportunities that may be well-intentioned, yet have a poor track record for any number of reasons.

When I was at the meal with friends and fellow villagers they were all extra cordial to me at the dinner table, but behind my back they were racking their brains, scheming, trying to figure out how to swindle me for my money.

If you don’t get your investment back (and chances are you won’t), or even if you do and still suspect a swindle, report it promptly to the appropriate authorities and regulatory officials.

In Nirmal Singh, the Supreme Court took note of the distinction made in T.T. Antony to the decision in Ram Lal Narang and thereafter held in paragraph 50 of its decision as follows: We must also bear in mind the distinction between crime committed by an individual or a group of persons vis-a'-vis a scam which means 'to get money or property from, another, under false pretences, by gaining the confidence of the victim, also includes; swindle; defraud'.
