Red sandstone was brought from Fatehpur Sikri, Jasper from Punjab, Jade and Crystal from China, Turquoise from Tibet, Lapis Lazuli and Sapphire from Sri Lanka, Coal and Cornelian from Arabia and diamonds from Panna.

At the center of the 23-acre complex is the Akshardham mandir, which is built from 6,000 metric tons of pink sandstone from Rajasthan.

37. Umaid Bhavan palace is made of red sandstone and marble and it took around 16 years from 1929 to 1943 to be constructed under the kingship of Maharaja Umaid Singh.

It is a mix of sandstone blocks and red granite.

An interesting feature of the palace is that its lower portion is made of sandstone.

It was also the first structure to use red sandstone at such a scale.

After the ice cover melts, Greenland will be able to export sandstone.
