फिनोलफथेलिन (en. Phenolphthalein)

Demonstration was made to show the use and effect of phenolphthalein powder in the solution of sodium carbonate.

Subsequently phenolphthalein powder was applied over the currency notes and it was given to the complainant.

The procedure of phenolphthalein and sodium carbonate was explained to the effect that it changes colour when the sodium carbonate solution comes in contact.

It was informed that if the accused demands the amount, then only P.W.2 shall give the tainted currency notes smeared with phenolphthalein powder to the accused.

Thereafter the formalities of smearing phenolphthalein powder on the currency notes and verifying it was made.

But, when the complainant has already handled the currency notes smeared with phenolphthalein powder, the possibility of token when it was handed over to the accused person, the phenolphthalein powder on the token also reaching the hands of the accused persons cannot be ruled out.

When it is stated by the complainant that the tainted currency notes were kept in a cover, he must have handled the currency notes which were smeared with phenolphthalein powder and, in that process, his hands will be having phenolphthalein powder.
