डोगे (en. Doge)

The name of the room derives from the votes that were held there, in particular those for the new doge.

After the construction of Sansovino’s Library though, this room was used solely for elections, starting with the most important, that of the Doge.

Galileo then communicated the details of his invention to the public, and presented the instrument itself to the doge Leonardo Donato, sitting in full council.

When the excommunicated Doge Pietro Gradeningo died, he was not allowed a Christian funeral and was buried in an unmarked grave.

The copy of the laws was granted by Doge Loredano between 1506 and 1508, with the approval of the local Senate, who then commissioned two works of art in order to pass on to posterity the memory of a fact that showed what respect and reverence they had for their laws [Venetian] also other nations, completely ignored by the authors who report the events against Confederate weapons in Cambrais.

53 meters long and 25 meters wide, this is not only the largest chamber in the Doge’s Palace, but also one of the largest rooms in Europe.

The two junior suites are dedicated to the Doge of the Priuli family.
