Gogoi enrolled at the bar in 1978, and practised at the Gauhati High Court, where he was made a Permanent Judge on 28 February 2001.

Performers were able to access areas with pool tables, bean bags and a bar.

The court issued notices to the Centre, Bar Council of India, Delhi High Court Bar Association, Bar Council of Delhi, all bar associations of district courts, and the Delhi government in the case.

For these actions, he was awarded a bar to his MVC, being one of only six Indian soldiers so honoured.

In 1995 at the age of 32 she took the Bar (Kanoon Vokala) exam and earned her lawyers credentials, and became one of the most active members of the law society.
